Trimming nails on your Pug is not always a fun job. Some pugs are reluctant, even terrified of getting their nails trimmed.
Some even starts screaming, yelping, and moving around constantly. You fight tooth and nails (no pun intended) to get their nails cut… the ultimate challenge of grit and persistence.
Have you ever experienced the pleasure of trimming a pug's (or any reluctant dog's / animal's) nails?
Well, this 2nd year veterinary student, Roberta who's studying at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University sure can relate!
Check out her hysterical synopsis of trimming a pug's nails on the next page:

Oh God yes, my Sarah hated it! We did it here at home using one of those rotating things. But we had to be careful because it would overheat the nail is we kept it too long in one place. She would fight and scratch, and we usually wound up with blood streaming from US! Pugs don’t like being messed with, their attitude is “leave me the hell alone and we’ll get along just fine.” This story is hilarious, but they would have done better to do it while the pug was on the table, rather than in the arms of someone.

I have two pugs and both are fine getting their nails done. People just don’t do it often enough and don’t get dogs used to it as puppies.

Awwww, poor Casey! I don’t even attempt Connie and the cats anymore. We ALL hate pedicure time! I let the vet or the groomers at PetsMart deal with them!

OH, 4 vet techs and a sedated pug and they STILL couldn’t get the nails clipped. They told me we would have to get him sedated! Then his sister started imitating him!

First off do not hold them this way. Good damn way to kill one, buy broken neck or not being able to breathe. Second sit in a chair they against your chest and kids and very quietly talk to them. Give them good scratches. Get rid of the nippers and get a rotating clipper with the wheel. It’s takes about twice and they get used to it. This saves you and your pug baby a lot of stress

That’s tame!! We have tried to trim his nails more times than we have had meals! Our Pug sitter (a professional dog groomer too) has had no luck. Vet has been successful…..but only when knocked out for an operation. Have tried to trim whilst he is sleeping. Now sleeps with toes tucked under!
