The Blair Pug Project: A Vet Student’s Hysterical Synopsis of Trimming a Pug’s Nails

Trimming nails on your Pug is not always a fun job. Some pugs are reluctant, even terrified of getting their nails trimmed.

Some even starts screaming, yelping, and moving around constantly. You fight tooth and nails (no pun intended) to get their nails cut… the ultimate challenge of grit and persistence.

Have you ever experienced the pleasure of trimming a pug's (or any reluctant dog's / animal's) nails?

Well, this 2nd year veterinary student, Roberta who's studying at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University sure can relate!

Check out her hysterical synopsis of trimming a pug's nails on the next page:

  1. we gave up on using the clippers. I held him on my lap while my husband used the dremel to grind down the nails. He would take it for 3 feet. The 4th would have to wait for the next day.

  2. My Minnie fights and tries to bite, poops and pees. Takes 3 to hold her and still can’t do it. The groomer today turned her away and suggested I take her to the vet to be sedated! Need to find a new groomer I think!!

  3. we had to give our huge male pug doggy downers and then it took 2 of us to trim his nails and he always inspected them when we were done to see if they were still there lmbo!! and of course we were exhausted from holding him down. I still miss him he was a beautiful and loving pug

  4. My little guy, bit, scratched, pissed and released his$#%&!@*glands all over my Fiancés mom who’s a dog groomer when she cut his nails. Swear you would have thought we were murdering the poor thing

  5. If the breeder starts desensitization at just a few days old and you continue the exercises, this wont be an issue. Most pugs have this issue as the result of owners failing to follow breeders directions or by buying a pup from a subpar breeder.
