The Blair Pug Project: A Vet Student’s Hysterical Synopsis of Trimming a Pug’s Nails

Trimming nails on your Pug is not always a fun job. Some pugs are reluctant, even terrified of getting their nails trimmed.

Some even starts screaming, yelping, and moving around constantly. You fight tooth and nails (no pun intended) to get their nails cut… the ultimate challenge of grit and persistence.

Have you ever experienced the pleasure of trimming a pug's (or any reluctant dog's / animal's) nails?

Well, this 2nd year veterinary student, Roberta who's studying at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University sure can relate!

Check out her hysterical synopsis of trimming a pug's nails on the next page:

  1. From the day I got wiggles 8 weeks I played with his feet for at least 20 minutes a day every day. Now a little more than a year later. There is no problem with clipping his nails and he loves his vets office

  2. I do one or two nails then wait until the next day to try again. It stresses me out too bad. I keep Gizmo occupied with a spoonful of peanut butter. He swears I’m trying to kill him!

  3. Oh heavens…I know that drama all too well! I use to cut their nails on a groomer’s table with a noose and trying to hold onto them by myself out of the deck. The screams were so dramatic I was mortified thinking the neighbors would believe I was torturing them or they were being attacked by a bear! I almost wish they’d pass out from anxiety so I could quick get all the nails before they come to!

  4. My 2 pugs were sisters. Polly would trust you with her life and let you do with her whatever you wanted. Sister Anna was a paranoid schizophrenic who was sure you were trying to kill her, especially trimming nails. Screaming so badly I thought she was going to have a heart attack. She was really sweet but did not like to be restrained in any way. But she could really sing-a-long. Miss them both a lot. We had them for 16 years.
