The Blair Pug Project: A Vet Student’s Hysterical Synopsis of Trimming a Pug’s Nails

Trimming nails on your Pug is not always a fun job. Some pugs are reluctant, even terrified of getting their nails trimmed.

Some even starts screaming, yelping, and moving around constantly. You fight tooth and nails (no pun intended) to get their nails cut… the ultimate challenge of grit and persistence.

Have you ever experienced the pleasure of trimming a pug's (or any reluctant dog's / animal's) nails?

Well, this 2nd year veterinary student, Roberta who's studying at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University sure can relate!

Check out her hysterical synopsis of trimming a pug's nails on the next page:

  1. we had to get the vet to clip them and Riley went nuts, it took the vet and two nurses to hold him when it was being done! the vet was so tired and excahusted after the stuggle she demanded that nex time he waould have to have a whiff of the gas, But it was 80 quid! terrible price to get a nail job! so now i save money and when he is sleepy i sneak up and nip a few at a time, i do it gradully and it would take a wekk to do them all! but its better tahn paying 80 quid and if he is a good he gets a nce chcken chew!!!

  2. My pug falls asleep when I trim his nails. I lay him on his back on my lap and use a dremel grinder. If you start when they’re a puppy, they get desensitized to it. And of course he gets treats afterwards!

  3. My Bella is fine with us trimming her back paw nails. She will not remain sane however when we try to do the front! Can’t even touch her front legs. Never thought about the Vet using has. That sounds promising!
