The Blair Pug Project: A Vet Student’s Hysterical Synopsis of Trimming a Pug’s Nails

Trimming nails on your Pug is not always a fun job. Some pugs are reluctant, even terrified of getting their nails trimmed.

Some even starts screaming, yelping, and moving around constantly. You fight tooth and nails (no pun intended) to get their nails cut… the ultimate challenge of grit and persistence.

Have you ever experienced the pleasure of trimming a pug's (or any reluctant dog's / animal's) nails?

Well, this 2nd year veterinary student, Roberta who's studying at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University sure can relate!

Check out her hysterical synopsis of trimming a pug's nails on the next page:

  1. My baby had hers done today. It takes 2 vets to trim her nails! She actually yelps when she sees the vet with the clippers! Its heart wrenching and funny at the same time! The vet can just hold her paw with the clippers in her sight and she goes nuts! I love my 2 pug babies so much!

  2. I feel extremely lucky! I’ve had two pugs and neither have made any fuss at all. Both the vet tech and groomer have said they are the best they’ve ever had. After seeing this, I am SO THANKFUL!

  3. I guess pugs are extra sensitive to nail trimming. I’ve known of two pugs that actually went into cardiac arrest because of the stress of it. Last time I had my guy in for nail trimming, the vet scared me. Afterwards they pulled out their stethoscope to listen to his heart. Scared me they were concerned but glad they cared enough to check him. He was fine. But I really hate having to put my pug through it!!!
