Teen Hero Guides Frightened Horse Through Wildfire to Safety

As wildfires continue to devastate parts of the Los Angeles area, stories of resilience and bravery are beginning to emerge — including one remarkable act by a courageous teenager.

Amid the chaos of the still-active Palisades Fire, 16-year-old equestrian Kalyna Fedorowycz made a split-second decision that would change everything for a stranded horse named Sovereignty.

Though Sovereignty isn’t her horse, Fedorowycz jumped into action when she saw that he was too frightened to load onto a trailer and evacuate with the others. Rather than leave him behind, she chose another way — a far more dangerous one.

With smoke filling the sky and flames not far off, Fedorowycz led and rode the nervous horse for 14 miles down a canyon road to safety. Her father followed close behind in a car, capturing video of her incredible journey.

I thought I would post some of the videos my dad took as he drove behind me. I can’t thank everybody enough for all of the love and support. I hope everyone stays safe! 💞🔥

Despite the overwhelming conditions, Sovereignty trusted her — and because of that trust, he survived.

Thanks to Fedorowycz’s determination and calm leadership, the horse was safely reunited with his owner.

The story quickly spread online, where viewers praised the teen for her courage and compassion in the face of disaster.

“You may have saved just one horse,” one commenter wrote, “but your courage and kindness echo far beyond that moment.”

Fedorowycz’s brave act is a reminder that even in the darkest times, small acts of love and courage can shine the brightest.
