Meet Duckphone — a charming rescue cat with a huge heart and even bigger cheeks.
The 2-year-old feline recently arrived at the Cleveland Animal Protective League after being found as a stray. From the moment he walked through the door, the shelter staff knew he was something special.
“Everyone’s first reaction was, ‘Whoa, look at those cheeks!’” said Hannah MacIntyre, the shelter’s social media specialist. “Duckphone has definitely been turning heads.”
But there’s more to Duckphone than just his irresistible cheeks. Despite his rough start to life, he's an incredibly affectionate and outgoing cat.
“He’ll come right up to you for pets and attention,” MacIntyre said. “He’s just a total sweetheart.”
As for his name? It's just as unique as he is. A volunteer, struggling to come up with new names for the shelter’s many rescues, was inspired by a quirky duck-shaped telephone they once saw on TV. Thus, Duckphone was christened.
During his vet check, Duckphone tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), but it hasn’t slowed him down one bit.
“He’s a happy and otherwise healthy kitty!” MacIntyre assured.
Now safe and thriving at the shelter, Duckphone only needs one more thing to complete his story — a loving family to call his own.
UPDATE 3/16: Great news — Duckphone has been adopted!
