As winter’s chill settled over Indianapolis, volunteers at The Alliance for Responsible Pet Ownership (ARPO) received a call they couldn’t ignore — a family of kittens was trying to survive the freezing temperatures on the streets.
The rescuers, already on high alert for vulnerable animals, raced to the location, but they didn’t expect to find the tiny group in such an unusual spot.
“The only shelter nearby was an old car,” ARPO shared on Instagram. “The kittens had climbed onto the hood and were snuggled together, trying to stay warm.”
The team found five kittens curled up in a furry pile, with their mother keeping a close watch nearby. They quickly brought the feline family to safety and placed them in a loving foster home.
But just as they were getting the group settled, another message came in — another kitten had been found alone on someone’s porch, not far from where the others were rescued.
Neighbors had seen him with a different feline family, but his mother and siblings had vanished, leaving him behind. Thankfully, the first rescued mother cat welcomed the orphaned kitten as one of her own.
Now, with their new foster home, the whole group — named after characters from the show Suits — are safe and thriving. Mama Jessica Pearson dotes on Harvey, Louis, Donna, Rachel, Katrina, and little Mike, the last kitten to join their crew.
Once huddled for warmth on a cold car hood, the kittens now nap peacefully under their first Christmas tree — warm, loved, and ready for a new chapter.
Each kitten is now looking for a forever home. Until then, their rescuers are simply grateful the whole family is back together.
“This little guy was the missing link to our Suits group,” ARPO wrote. “We’re so glad he found his way.”
