At just 2 years old, Sade had already experienced a tough start in life. Found wandering the streets, underweight and alone, she was eventually brought to the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida — a safe haven and a chance at the fresh start she so desperately needed.
Despite her youth, Sade was no longer a puppy — a fact that seemed to matter to potential adopters.
While Sade waited patiently in her kennel, hopeful for someone to notice her gentle spirit, her next-door neighbors — a litter of adorable puppies — were quickly scooped up by families eager to add a young dog to their lives.
“Sadly, this is the reality for many adult dogs,” the shelter shared online. “While the puppies get adopted quickly, our wonderful adult dogs can wait months to find a family.”
Sade watched quietly as others got the homes she longed for. She had love to give, but day after day, she was passed by — overlooked simply because she wasn’t a puppy anymore.
But her story took a turn.
Just days after a heartfelt video of Sade circulated on social media, something incredible happened: a family who had met her while volunteering at the shelter decided she belonged with them — and took her home.
“This sweet girl, who won over the hearts of so many online, has found her forever home,” the shelter announced joyfully. “Sade has settled in almost immediately in her new home. Happy tails, Sade!”
Sade’s story is a reminder of the many adult and senior dogs waiting for their moment — dogs with patience, loyalty, and so much love to give.
While puppies often steal the spotlight, dogs like Sade prove that sometimes, the best companions come with a little more life experience.
