Rescuers Discover Two Ikea Bags in Parking Lot — And Can’t Believe Who’s Inside

On an ordinary afternoon, staff at the RSPCA’s Leybourne Animal Center spotted something unusual in their parking lot — two large, bright blue Ikea bags sitting side by side. At first, they thought someone had left behind old belongings. But when they looked closer, their curiosity turned to shock.

Each bag held a pet carrier, and inside those carriers were not forgotten objects, but six rare-breed Scottish Fold kittens — all abandoned in broad daylight. No note. No sign of the owner. Just two bags, two carriers, and six pairs of wide, bewildered eyes.

“While these cats were left somewhere they could get help, this is no way for a pet owner to act,” said Adam Tasker, animal rescue officer with the RSPCA.

The staff rushed the kittens inside for an examination. Thankfully, all were in good health and appeared to have been well fed. They’re now safe, warm, and cared for while the rescue works to find out who left them behind.

The RSPCA hopes to speak with the person responsible — not only to learn the cats’ history, but to remind the public that help is available for anyone struggling to care for their pets.

“If the costs of looking after your pets, including paying the vet bills, are getting too much, we have plenty of support in place,” Tasker said.

If no one comes forward, the kittens will eventually be placed in loving homes. In the meantime, staff are enjoying the company of their charming, big-eyed guests — a reminder that even the most surprising rescues can lead to brighter futures.
