Over 800 animals found their forever homes this past weekend in the Kansas City Mega Match adoption event! This event is held yearly and is the biggest adoption event in the city.

This is the seventh year that four shelters got together with a goal of finding 1,000 pets their forever homes over the course of three days. They came pretty darned close!

Not only were dogs and cats up for adoption, but also lizards and rabbits. For every pet that received a forever home, a fee of only $25 was required by the new owner. This means the shelters were nearly cleared out before the colder months arrive.

Organizers of the mega match event say that it was a huge success. Tori Fugate of KC Pet Project told Fox4KC, “We’ve found homes for hundreds of pets across the metro between KC Pet Project, Great Plains SPCA, Wayside Waifs and the Lawrence Humane Society. We are thrilled that there were wonderful families made as a result of this event”

The event was presented by the Petco Foundation, and there are still animals available for adoption. To view all adoptable pets, check out KC Mega Match.

We raise our sparkling water dishes for all the owners who brought these animals into their homes for a fresh start!
