As the state of Texas has continued to brace itself for the continued effects of Hurricane Harvey, there are some who find themselves wondering why animal owners are not doing right by their pets during this time of emergency. This photo was taken this past Saturday and it shows a dog who was tied to a pole. The poor animal was chained up and left stranded during one of the worst natural disasters of recent memory.
Just imagine being chained to a telephone pole and being forced to watch flood waters rise around you. The photographer who is responsible for taking the photo also took the time to release the animal from its horrific prison. Flash flood warnings are still being issued in various areas of the state and Texas residents are being urged to watch over their pets.
Pets are a part of the family and they deserve to be treated as such. There is no reason to leave livestock or pets tied up in the elements and the dog above is not the only one who has been found abandoned. Police officers in these regions are letting citizens know that they will most certainly be held accountable for any actions that contribute to the death of their pets.
Texas has passed laws against this type of behavior and these rules are going to be strictly enforced. Kudos to law enforcement for laying the law down early on and letting people that any sort of animal endangering behavior is not going to be tolerated under any circumstances. Hurricane Harvey has many Texans wondering what is next.
It will take some time and effort to clean up the after effects of this storm and the storm is also expected to continue attacking the Lone Star State well into next week. The most destructive aspects of the storm are believed to be on the horizon and that is why animal owners need to be fully aware of the consequences of their actions now.
Otherwise, they could make a mistake that proves fatal to their pet and also causes them to be placed in jail in the process. Don’t let yourself become the sort of inconsiderate soul that leaves an animal tied up and alone during a storm of this magnitude. Disaster declarations have been made for at least 50 counties and these storm surges are not expected to stop anytime soon. Please share this story to raise necessary awareness.
If you see any pets left behind, please contact local animal service.

They should not have tied them up! If you can’t take them at least give them a chance on their own!

No matter what my dog would have come with me or I’d have stayed with him. Maybe some were forced to leave and were not allowed their dog by rescuers so in panic they tied them up. Who knows

I’m sick of seeing this BS. I’m an animal lover too. But unless your living in the worst catastrophe in modern history…..you have no right to judge others….in Houston, an area the size of Delaware with the population 3 times Manhattan…. There are Literally millions of people fighting for their lives…. As for livestock…..there are thousands of people out there risking their lives to help both man and animal and in Texas we take our livestock very seriously. But when you dump as much as 30 inches of rain on a city in a matter of a few hours….no one can be prepared for that. This is a natural disaster. Its not something people were able to prepare for. Still 4 days after Harvey hit land…..people are still posting on social media begging for someone to save them.
Instead of complaining on Facebook about what someone else did or didn’t do, how about spending that time donating money to the SPCA of Houston or find one of the hundreds of vets and groups working to care for the affected. QUIT COMPLAINING ABOUT WHAT COULD VERY WELL BE FAKE NEWS AND MAKE AND DAMN DIFFERENCE!!!

Stupid people are the people who sit in their warm dry homes and complain about what someone did during the worst day of their lives. When chances are if this is a real photo….the person was probably not thinking straight. Make a difference. Donate the cause

I hope all those poor animals have been saved! And if you can find the owners, let’s fine the crap out of them! And make sure they don’t get those pets back! They deserve better homes!
