One Puppy Was Left Behind — But Her Rescuers Refuse to Give Up on Her

Back in February, Main Line Animal Rescue (MLAR) sent out an urgent plea: a mother dog named Sky and her six young puppies had been found in rough shape, struggling to survive on their own. Malnourished and exhausted, they needed a safe place to heal — and fast.

That’s when a kind-hearted foster dad named Nick stepped in, opening his home (and his heart) to the little family. With warmth, care, and lots of love, Sky and her pups slowly began to recover.

Under Nick’s nurturing watch, the dogs blossomed. When they were strong enough, he loaded them into his custom “Adopt A Pup” truck, a mobile effort he uses to help shelter pets find their forever homes.

And the plan worked — almost.

One by one, Sky and five of her puppies were adopted into loving families. But one puppy, a sweet girl named Rainbow, was left behind. As her last sibling was picked up and driven off to a new life, Rainbow stayed behind, quietly watching — still waiting for her turn.

“Everyone was so shocked that Rainbow was the last puppy left,” a representative from MLAR told The Dodo. “The day her brother was chosen and she wasn’t — it broke our hearts.”

But Rainbow’s foster family and rescuers know her time will come. She’s far too special not to be noticed.

“Rainbow is a total doll!” the representative shared. “She’s sweet, playful, and absolutely full of life. She’s always on a mission to collect sticks in the yard — we call her ‘The Branch Manager!’”

Despite the initial heartbreak of being the last one waiting, Rainbow’s story is far from over — and her future still shines bright. MLAR remains confident that her perfect match is out there, just around the corner.

“This isn’t just about one puppy,” the rescue wrote in a heartfelt post. “It’s about the fosters who give their all to save lives. It’s about the ones still waiting when everyone else has gone home. And it’s about what we can do — together — to make the world a little better for them.”

Rainbow may not have found her forever home yet, but she’s already surrounded by love — and hope.
