When a nurse arrived early one morning at Noah’s Crossing Vet Clinic in South Australia, she noticed something unusual on the doorstep — a cardboard box tightly sealed with yellow tape, sitting quietly outside the entrance.
Curious and concerned, she bent down and spotted a handwritten message scribbled across the box in black marker: “found on side of the road.”
Her heart sank.
A Silent Box Hiding a Fragile Secret
There were no sounds coming from inside, and for a moment, she feared the worst. With urgency, she peeled away the tape and opened the box — then exhaled in relief.
Inside were two tiny kittens — sisters — hot, exhausted, and clearly shaken, but alive.
“They were stressed, but happy to see someone,” a spokesperson from Noah’s Crossing shared with The Dodo.
Left in the Heat, Saved Just in Time
Staff at the clinic were disheartened to learn the kittens had been abandoned on such a sweltering day. While thankful the babies had survived, they wished whoever left them had taken a safer route.
“It’s sad that people cannot take appropriate steps,” the representative added, urging anyone in a similar situation to contact local animal services instead of leaving animals to fend for themselves.
From Forgotten to Loved
Despite the rough start, the kittens were given immediate care. After being examined, treated, and spayed, their bright and affectionate personalities quickly began to shine.
“They had very outgoing, loving personalities,” the spokesperson said. “They certainly deserved to find a home that would love them.”
And they did — a forever home that welcomed both sisters together, ensuring they'd never be separated again.
Now safe, loved, and together, these two kittens have finally found the peace they were waiting for.
