Last week, a driver speeding down an Italian highway at 80 mph felt a sudden, sickening thump. A stray white dog had wandered into the road — and the driver feared the worst.
But what they discovered moments later felt almost impossible.

Despite the high-speed impact, the dog was alive — wedged safely in the car’s front grille, which had somehow cushioned the blow and saved his life.
Shocked, the driver immediately called for help. Jimmy Dotti of Italian Veterinary Ambulance arrived quickly, and he, too, could hardly believe what he was seeing.

“In my many years of rescuing animals, this is one of the most miraculous cases,” Dotti told The Dodo.
Rescuers gently sedated the frightened pup and carefully freed him from the vehicle. Amazingly, aside from a fractured front leg, he had no serious injuries — no brain trauma, no spinal damage. Just a lucky, unbelievable escape.

They named him Paraflu.
Paraflu’s recovery will take time, but his spirit is as bright as ever. Even with his leg healing, he’s already charming everyone he meets — smiling, wagging and soaking up every bit of affection.

No one knows how Paraflu ended up alone on such a dangerous stretch of road, but one thing is certain: he was given a second chance that very few dogs ever get.
Once he’s fully healed, Paraflu will be ready to find a forever family — one that will love him as fiercely as he’s fought to stay alive.
“Paraflu is a really good dog,” Dotti said. “He will make the family who adopts him very happy.”
