Meet Beach Bum — a gentle Golden Retriever whose journey began in heartbreak. Alone on the streets of Jonesboro, Georgia, he scavenged for scraps, drank from puddles, and curled up on cold concrete at night.
Hungry and craving connection, he eventually began wandering into grocery stores, quietly asking for food — and love.
Despite everything he’d endured, Beach Bum hadn’t lost his faith in people.
“He was still trusting,” said a spokesperson from Hounds In Pounds, the rescue group that stepped in to help. “Even after being let down so many times, he was still looking for kindness.”
When rescuers found him, he was eating a discarded slice of pizza in the middle of a busy road, cars rushing by just inches away. They immediately scooped him up and rushed him to the vet.
Now safe, Beach Bum is receiving medical care — and plenty of belly rubs. “He’s pretty perfect,” the rescue team shared. “Super sweet. Right now, his favorite things are food and attention.”
Once he's fully recovered, Beach Bum will head to a foster home while he waits for a forever family. He’s great with other dogs, gets along with cats, and has a calm, go-with-the-flow temperament.
“He’s the kind of dog who’s happy just being near you,” said the rescue rep. “His ideal family would be one that enjoys a slower pace, gives lots of affection — and hands out plenty of snacks!”
From surviving the streets to soaking up love and care, Beach Bum’s life is finally turning around.
