Grumpy Cat Who ‘Hated Everyone’ Finally Found One Person She Loves

For as long as anyone could remember, Nanoos the orange tabby ruled her home with a fierce paw and an even fiercer glare. She wasn’t shy about her feelings — she simply didn’t like people. Any people.

“My cat hates everyone,” her mom, Reem Mohammad, told The Dodo. “She hates humans. She hates other animals. She hates me. She hates everything that essentially breathes.”

Nanoos didn’t just dislike visitors — she especially couldn’t stand kids. Their laughter, their energy, their joy — everything about them seemed to offend her grumpy little soul.

“She hates them so much,” Mohammad said with a laugh. “I think it’s because of their innocence — they’re happy, and she doesn’t like happiness.”

But then, something unexpected happened. Amid all the people Nanoos had declared enemies, there was one exception — Reem’s dad, Nanoos’ grandpa.

No one could explain it, but the moment Grandpa walked into the room, Nanoos transformed. The growls turned to purrs, the claws stayed tucked away, and the cat who “hated everything that breathes” suddenly became gentle and sweet.

“The one person that she loves would be my dad,” Mohammad said. “I have no idea why, but he just happens to be that one person.”

A year later, Reem shared that Nanoos had mellowed out — at least, a little. With help from cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy, and a lot of patience, Reem had been slowly earning Nanoos’ trust.

“There’s been so much progress!” she said. “I play with her a lot more. She doesn’t always play back, but sometimes she does — and that’s huge. I can even hold her now without getting scratched or bitten!”

Still, Grandpa remains Nanoos’ favorite human in the world — her one and only chosen person. Kids, on the other hand, are still firmly on her “nope” list.

“Kids will always be her enemy,” Reem joked.

Maybe one day Nanoos will soften up a little more. Or maybe she’ll stay exactly who she is — a proud, moody queen who loves one man and tolerates everyone else.

Either way, her family wouldn’t have it any other way.
