On their very first morning in a new house, Kaylee Massey opened her eyes to a surprising sight: her two kids standing beside the bed, grinning — and holding a fluffy bunny.
There was just one problem.
The Masseys didn’t own a bunny.
Flash back 10 days earlier, when the family first got the keys to their new place. While exploring the backyard, Kaylee’s kids spotted something hopping through the grass — a small, black rabbit.
“Initially we thought, ‘Wow, this neighborhood has wild bunnies — how fun!’” Massey shared on TikTok.
But then, while unpacking, they found a note left behind by the previous owners.
It explained that they’d had a pet rabbit who liked to live under the shed during summer. When moving day came, they hadn’t been able to catch him — and invited the new homeowners to either care for him or call so they could come get him later.
For the kids, that was all the invitation they needed.
From that moment on, catching the elusive bunny became their top mission. And on the very first morning after moving in, they succeeded.
Excitedly, the children brought their new friend into the house and named him Cooper. It was clear almost immediately — Cooper wasn’t just visiting. He was home.
Once Kaylee was fully awake, she and the kids made a quick trip to the store for bunny supplies: food, hay, treats, and toys. All the usual moving chores suddenly didn’t matter — Cooper came first.
When they returned, the happy bunny dug right into his snacks and explored his new surroundings.
By the end of the day, the Masseys were completely smitten. What started as an unexpected surprise had turned into something much more — a new family member.
Their new house hadn’t just given them a fresh start. It had come with a little bundle of love named Cooper — the luckiest housewarming gift imaginable.
