Family Brings 'Kitten' Inside During Storm — Then Realizes It’s Someone Wild

When a fierce storm with tornado warnings swept through Lenexa, Kansas, a local family spotted what looked like a tiny, helpless kitten stranded outside in the wind.

Fearing for the little animal’s safety, they quickly opened their door.

The “kitten” wasted no time — it bolted inside and curled up in their living room, seeking shelter from the storm.

But as the family got a closer look, something seemed… different. The markings, the build, even the way it moved — this wasn’t an ordinary kitten at all.

They called Lenexa Animal Control, and officer Logan Dorr soon confirmed their hunch: the little visitor was actually a baby bobcat.

The homeowners had done the right thing. “As cute as they are, we don’t want the public getting themselves hurt,” Dorr explained. “Leave this for the professionals.”

Since the storm was still raging, Dorr couldn’t release the cub back outside. Instead, he kept the bobcat safe overnight in a warm carrier at the station.

By morning, reports began to pour in of a mama bobcat seen pacing the neighborhood — searching desperately for her missing baby.

Armed with hope, Dorr brought the kitten back to the area and played bobcat calls on his phone. Within minutes, his plan worked.

“The mom came right up behind me,” Dorr said. “She rushed over to check on her baby immediately.”

The emotional reunion ended with the mother leading her little one back into the wild where they belonged. You can watch a video of their reunion below:

Dorr was happy to get to see the little family reunited and to have played an important role in supporting Lenexa’s bobcat population.

For Dorr, it was a reminder of why he does his job. “It was very heartwarming to see them back together again,” he said.
