For the past year, a tiny candy shop in Colombia has had the sweetest regular visitor — and she’s not there for the sweets.
Her name is Laika, a friendly neighborhood dog who strolls up to Dulcería Las Caleñitas Cajicá almost every single day. The shop owners have grown so fond of her that they’ve made feeding her part of their daily routine.
“She comes here almost daily,” the owner told The Dodo. “We feed her.”
But recently, Laika decided it was time to share the love.
A couple of months ago, she showed up at the candy shop’s door as usual — tail wagging, eyes bright — but this time she wasn’t alone.
Standing proudly beside her was a ginger-haired friend, clearly ready to join Laika for snack time.
The shop captured their adorable visits on video, showing the pair trotting up together like two best friends on a mission.
“They’re the cutest,” the owner said with a smile. “I love seeing them together.”
Both dogs have homes nearby, but they still choose to spend their days lounging in the warm sunshine just outside the shop — soaking up affection along with their treats.
The candy shop’s owner doesn’t just feed them, though. She’s personally taken Laika to the vet to be spayed, making sure no unwanted puppies end up on the streets. And she never turns away a hungry furry visitor.
“We feed all the dogs that come to our business looking for food, whether they have a home or not,” she said. “Because we don’t always know — and it’s something we do truly from the heart.”
What started as a small act of kindness has grown into a daily ritual of friendship, care, and community — proving that sometimes, the sweetest things you’ll find in a candy shop aren’t on the shelves at all.
