For 4-year-old dachshund Leroy, life is happiest when he’s by his dad’s side. The two are inseparable — tackling outdoor projects together by day and winding down in front of the TV at night. But this Father’s Day, their bond reached a whole new level when Leroy got an outfit to match his dad’s: his very own pair of overalls.
“[My dad] is very well-known for his love of wearing overalls,” said Hannah Priddy, Leroy’s human sister. “He mentioned wanting Leroy to have a pair so they could match.”
It’s hard to imagine now, but their friendship didn’t start out this close. At first, Leroy’s dad wasn’t sure he’d feel much of a connection with the little pup. But Leroy had other plans.
“My dad didn’t think he’d have much of a bond with him,” Hannah explained. “But Leroy was drawn to him, and, over time, they became a dynamic duo.”
What built their bond wasn’t anything complicated — just time, love, and a lot of shared moments.
Now, Leroy rarely lets his dad out of sight, and his dad has showered him with nicknames like Barn Boss, Dapper Daniel, My Boy, and Lachoy.
Leroy joined the family during a big transition: the Priddys had just moved from city life to the countryside. With more land to care for, Leroy’s dad spent most of his days outside — and somewhere along the way, he discovered his new signature style: overalls.
“Now we never really see him in anything else,” Hannah laughed. “He’s so well-known for it that other family members started buying their own pairs after seeing him wear them every day.”
Still, one member of the household was missing from the matching crew: Leroy.
That changed when his dad stumbled across a pair of doggy overalls online.
“He found them on Amazon and sent me the link,” Hannah said. “It only took a day to arrive, and Leroy was wearing them as soon as my dad got the package.”
The pup’s mini overalls fit perfectly, and the two posed immediately for a little photoshoot — dad and his best buddy dressed as twins.
“My mom said Leroy actually loves them,” Hannah said. “And my dad couldn’t wait to show him off in them.”
Now, Leroy and his dad are rarely seen apart — and if his dad has to step out, Leroy sits faithfully at the door or curls up in his dad’s chair until he returns.
“My dad adores every dog we’ve had,” Hannah said. “But Leroy is his boy. He absolutely fell in love with him.”
For Leroy’s dad, the overalls are more than a favorite outfit. They’re a symbol of the bond he never expected — and now couldn’t imagine life without.
