When most people shop for a lounge chair, they focus on comfort, color, fabric, or whether it reclines. But for one devoted dog dad, none of that matters as much as one very important factor: is it dog-approved?
Earlier this month, TikTok user Sam posted a now-viral video of her uncle testing out a chair at a furniture store — but not in the usual way. Instead of checking how comfy it was for himself, he carefully evaluated how well he could rub his pup’s belly from it.
That’s right. His test for the perfect chair was whether he could give his dog proper belly rubs while sitting in it.
Despite once claiming he didn’t want a dog, it’s clear those days are long gone. His pup was front and center in his mind while he shopped — and the internet fell in love. The sweet moment racked up over 13 million views, showing just how relatable pet-first priorities really are.
And this dog-loving uncle isn’t alone.
Back in 2019, Aleecia Dahl shared that her grandfather also had a very specific requirement when buying a new chair — but he took it a step further. He actually brought his dog, Coco, to the store with him to try out chairs together.
“It was Grandpa’s requirement that the footrest was wide enough for both him and Coco to sit side by side,” Dahl told The Dodo.
Thankfully, they found the perfect chair that met their snuggle standards.
So while dimensions and design might matter to some, for the best kind of dog parents, nothing beats furniture that’s perfectly suited for quality cuddle time.
