For artist Becca S., family game nights are already full of laughter and friendly competition — but when those games also spark fond memories of the pets they’ve loved over the years, they’re even more special. So when she spotted a blank game board at an art store just weeks before Father’s Day and her mother’s birthday, inspiration struck instantly.
“I thought, why not create a custom game we could all play together that revolved around the most important members of our family — our pets growing up?” Becca shared in an Instagram Reel.

She brought the blank board home and began mapping out a vision. The game would be based on her family’s favorite, Sorry!, where players race to get their pieces home.
But Becca’s version, which she dubbed Furever Home!, had a meaningful twist: each player’s journey would represent a pet’s life story — from where they started before adoption to the warm, loving home they eventually found with the family.
Becca began by sculpting miniature figurines of each pet and painting their origin stories directly onto the board. First up was Turf, a bichon who had recently passed after more than a decade with the family.
“Turf was, by far, my parents’ favorite child (rightfully so),” Becca said with a smile. “He was found on the streets of Wilmington, Delaware, and spent 16 wonderful years living in the lap of luxury with my parents.”
On the board, Turf’s starting point depicted the street where a Good Samaritan first found him before bringing him to the shelter where Becca’s mom volunteered. His end point — like all the pets — was the family’s childhood home.
Next came Max, a mischievous and loyal collie who spent eight happy years by Becca’s side. “When I think of my childhood, I think of Max,” she said. His starting square featured the flyer that first introduced the family to him.
Becca then honored Guenther, a Bernese mountain dog and border collie mix whose time with the family was heartbreakingly short but transformative.
“Though he passed away a few months after we got him, he turned my dad into a dog person — something I’ll always be grateful for,” she said.
The final piece was Sarah — not a dog, but a cherished goldfish Becca received for her sixth birthday. “She was my first pet, and I doted on her like she was a dog,” Becca laughed.
In the original Sorry!, slides help players jump ahead. In Furever Home!, these became memory slides — each tied to a funny or sweet story. Sarah’s slide recalled the time she leapt out of her tank, prompting a police visit. Turf’s was inspired by his joyful zoomies.
When Becca presented the finished game to her parents, their reaction was priceless. “They were in total shock,” she said. “I’ve made them things before, but never something this elaborate.”
That evening, the family played for hours — laughing, reminiscing, and competing as fiercely as ever. “I worried it might be too sentimental,” Becca admitted, “but it turned out to be a blast.”
