Judge Cicconetti of Painesville, Ohio likes to do things a bit differently in his courtroom.
He believes in trulymaking the punishment fit the crime, which often results in creative and unexpected sentences.
This past September, Alyssa Morrow pleaded guilty to animal cruelty. She left her dog, Moose, locked up inside her dirt-ridden house. For an entire week, Moose was all alone with no one to take care of him.
When he was finally rescued, his saviors were shocked and appalled by his condition. Moose’s fur was falling out.
He was starving and thirsty. Rather than throwing her in jail like most judges would do, Judge Cicconetti made Alyssa – Dog Abuser do something that many people would find much more repulsive.
First, he spoke on behalf of Moose, noting how frightened he must have been during his abandonment.
Then, Judge Cicconetti looked Alyssa – Dog Abuser right in the eyes and said.
“Maybe you should get a little taste of that, but I’m going to let you have a choice here, and the choice is I want you to live like Moose, and in order to do that I want you to go down to the county dump, to the landfill, and I want them to find the stinkiest smelliest god-awful odor place they can find in that dump and I want you to sit there for 8 hours tomorrow, to think what you did to that dog while you smell the odor. If you puke, you puke.”
Do you think the punishment fits the crime?

punishment did not fit the crime. she should have been locked in her dirty house with no water or food and no plumbing. Let her sit amongst that mess for one week. preferable in the middle of the hot summer.

it maybe fitting but, it’s not good enough. if you take responsibility for an animal you should be held accountable for it’s welfare. 8hrs at the dump is a joke not a punishment.

Very interesting Judge in all the cases I have just watched. Yes I do now hopefully she will understand what she put that poor dog through. And learn you cannot treat animals like rubbish.

I think that’s great, but she should be fined and/or jailed as well. Also, she should be added to a registry so she’s never allowed to have any pets in the future.

It won’t hold up. That would be cruel and unusual punishment. Given she deserves it, but it won’t happen.
