Judge Cicconetti of Painesville, Ohio likes to do things a bit differently in his courtroom.
He believes in trulymaking the punishment fit the crime, which often results in creative and unexpected sentences.
This past September, Alyssa Morrow pleaded guilty to animal cruelty. She left her dog, Moose, locked up inside her dirt-ridden house. For an entire week, Moose was all alone with no one to take care of him.
When he was finally rescued, his saviors were shocked and appalled by his condition. Moose’s fur was falling out.
He was starving and thirsty. Rather than throwing her in jail like most judges would do, Judge Cicconetti made Alyssa – Dog Abuser do something that many people would find much more repulsive.
First, he spoke on behalf of Moose, noting how frightened he must have been during his abandonment.
Then, Judge Cicconetti looked Alyssa – Dog Abuser right in the eyes and said.
“Maybe you should get a little taste of that, but I’m going to let you have a choice here, and the choice is I want you to live like Moose, and in order to do that I want you to go down to the county dump, to the landfill, and I want them to find the stinkiest smelliest god-awful odor place they can find in that dump and I want you to sit there for 8 hours tomorrow, to think what you did to that dog while you smell the odor. If you puke, you puke.”
Do you think the punishment fits the crime?

It’s a start but the punishment should have been at least a week, no food or water either. And NEVER ALLOWED TO OWN ANY ANIMAL EVER!!!

Oh only 8 hours???? and she knew it was only going to be 8 hours and then her punishment was over, the poor dog didn’t know how long he was going to suffer for and he was rescued so if people didn’t know about him then it could have been much longer. Definitely not good enough. She should have been sent to isolation for a month with only dry bread and water and if I was law, I wouldn’t have fed her anything at all, the dog didn’t get anything at all! So why feed her and she is fat enough.

I agree too. Please let us have more happy dachshund posts. This is so sad and there is too much cruelty in the world. She deserves more than sitting for 8 hours at a dump but this isn’t the place for these posts.

Not harsh enough at all. Animal cruelty is a Federal crime now and tracked by the FBI. The sentence should have been much worse.

Nope, eye for an eye! He was abandoned for a week…her being of sound mind and body, chose to leave him in deplorable conditions…she deserves the same conditions for longer than a week. One week for her to feel what he felt and anothwr week for punishment. No food, no water, absolutely no means of comfort.

She needed to stay at the dump for 24 hours, so she can puke the day.

I think he’s too lenient – she should spend 4 days there at least half of what she put her dog through – and give her just enough water to survive the 4 days.

Personally she should have gone a week without food or water. See how long she lasts.

No, she’s used to the filth. Needed to be more severe! Instead of sitting there I would have had her shoveling it, but still needs to be more severe!

I think she shud do community–working at dog shelter, go with mobile units that pick up abused dogs for at least 30 days–so she witnessed & has to help dogs cats survive, $ penalty & cant be allowed to ever own a pet.
