When 8-year-old Ravi was surrendered to a vet clinic in Connecticut, the staff couldn’t believe the reason: his family said he was too affectionate.
It didn’t take long for the heartbreak to set in. Ravi had only been with them a short time, but the family had already decided he wasn’t the right fit — all because he wanted too much love. Fortunately, the vet staff reached out to their rescue partner, The Little Guild, and asked if they could take in this unusually cuddly cat.
As soon as Ravi arrived at the shelter, it became clear just how affectionate he really was.
“He has such a sweet and silly personality,” said Jennifer Langendoerfer, executive director of The Little Guild. “He loves to cuddle with staff and hang out with the other cats. His favorite thing is curling up in your lap and taking a nap.”
Ravi isn’t just friendly — he’s a full-time snuggler. He craves affection and connection, trailing behind people like a soft, purring shadow. While that might have overwhelmed his previous family, it’s exactly what makes him so special to the team at The Little Guild.
Ravi’s been adjusting well to shelter life over the past month, but it’s clear he’s ready for a forever home — and he won’t have to wait long.
“We’ve gotten over 100 adoption applications for Ravi,” Langendoerfer said. “Our small staff is working through them carefully to find the perfect match.”
Whoever brings Ravi home won’t need much experience — just a willingness to be followed from room to room and a lap available for frequent naps.
“Ravi would do well in almost any home,” Langendoerfer said. “His ideal person will be someone who loves to cuddle and doesn’t mind being adored every minute of the day.”
It turns out, being too affectionate isn’t a flaw at all — it’s Ravi’s superpower. And soon, someone lucky will get to feel just how wonderful that love can be.
