From the moment she arrived as a tiny kitten, Suraci Rue has been pure perfection in cat form.
“She’s very curious and has to be involved in everything you’re doing,” her mom, Kami Netz, told The Dodo. “She’s super affectionate and listens — well, as well as a cat can.”
By all accounts, Suraci is an ideal companion. Her only “flaw”? She’s convinced she’s perpetually starving.
Even if her food bowl is still warm from a recent meal, Suraci will pour on the charm — snuggling, purring, and giving her best “I haven’t eaten in years” eyes — all in hopes of convincing someone to feed her again.
“She will love you up hoping you will fill her bowl in return,” Netz said.
Eventually, Netz decided something had to be done to prevent her little con artist from scoring double dinners. Drawing on her skills as a photographer and creative, she made a bold — and slightly cheeky — sign.
It read: “The cat has been fed, don’t believe her bullshit.”
The hope was simple: stop visitors and family members from falling for Suraci’s Oscar-worthy performances.
But the minute Suraci saw the sign, she was outraged.
She sat directly in front of it, appearing to read every word, then slowly turned to glare at her humans with a look that could curdle milk.
The message was clear: How dare you slander me like this.
Her family couldn’t stop laughing — and, knowing Suraci, she’s probably already plotting her next move to prove the sign wrong.
“When it looked like she was reading the sign it didn't surprise me at all, she's a fairly intelligent and comical cat,” Netz said.
Despite Netz’s best efforts, so far, the sign hasn’t worked at all. Suraci still loves begging for food and occasionally gets her way — she’s just too cute and impossible to say no to!
