Camera captures the moment dog realizes his family is leaving him at the shelter

A shelter dog who was featured in a heartbreaking video that went viral has found a forever home thanks to a group of dedicated rescuers. The fear and confusion on the face of the Pit Bull named Electra touched hearts around the globe. Electra’s sad eyes, flattened ears and downward expression made it crystal clear she was just realizing she was somewhere far from where she wanted to be.

She was left at Pomona’s Inland Valley Humane Society in California when Lolys Menchaka, a volunteer animal rescuer, spotted her and took the video and photo.

“Electra represents the face of sadness and reality in the shelters,” Lolys wrote on Facebook. “Sometimes I would like to understand owners surrendering their animals and I don’t like to judge them but when you see how the dogs come to the receiving department with their happy faces and they stand all proud I just can’t understand… (I’m speaking in general, not sure if she was found as stray or she was an owner surrendered.)”

Lolys hoped for Electra to have a happy ending, as so few Pit Bulls do in shelters. And it looks like she will be getting one! When Tiffany Tan of JL Animal rescue heard news of Electra she ran down to the pound and got her. And Electra now has a forever family. Tan told news.com.au, “I’ve gone over every day to check on her, I had to check her temperament. She’s an amazing dog, she’s not the same dog we took out of a shelter. She’s so snuggly, she just wants to snuggle you.”

    I’m on my way home from work to see my little buddy and I can’t imagine in a million years ever dropping him off somewhere and leaving him never to come back. I can’t wait to get home to see him

    You’re not raising awareness to anyone here because anyone that follows this page loves their dogs. That’s why they follow. No one wants to read this stuff. It’s like posting about someones dog dying. Who really needs added depression in their life?

    I am so, so grateful and thankful this loving, innocent pup now has a loving, caring forever home. I am sure she rewards her person every day for saving her from shelter life.

    ANIMALS PEOPLE SAY TO THEMSELVES ITS JUST AN ANIMAL THEY CANT THINK THEY DONT KNOW ANYTHING LETS DUMP IT NO GUILT TRIP WHATEVER AND YOU LEAVE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU NEGLECT YOUR KIDS SAME THING HAPPENS TO THE KIDS JUST AS THE ANIMALS THEYRE NOT DUMB HOPE YOU HAVE BIG GUILT TRIP

    Omg im so sad.. that fear says it all in the poor babies face ..their like children they depend on us exactly how babies do and children do ..i get so upset about it i really do..But who knows why the poor dog was left in the shelter …..like alot of people.. money problems .. they dump them wherever.. tied up etc..etc..at least they did the humane thing by leaving the poor dog in care..it’s not nice i couldn’t do it but life’s sad..god bless animals who are suffering. .
