For every batch of K9 trainees, only a few are able to fulfill the criteria to qualify as K9s. Many dogs are unable to make it due to their mild temperaments and friendly nature. Most of the K9 school rejects are essentially dogs who are “too nice”, or too scared, or completely “unmotivated” to catch the bad guys!
The TSA has reached out to the public in hopes of finding homes for their K9 and service dog “failures”. The authorities believe that these canine school dropouts will make perfect family pets. Two rescue groups – “Freedom Service Dogs of America” and “Service Dogs Inc.” will be assisting in helping the rejected dogs get adopted.
Another rescue called “Mission K9” is also requesting people to adopt the retired service dogs and K9s who have dedicated their lives to the country. In order to maintain security details, the authorities will scan the adoption applications based on home, lifestyle and family.
If you wish to know more about the requirements checklist for adopting these dogs, you can visit the TSA Canine Training Center Adoption Program page here. You can also reach out to the affiliated rescue and training organizations through social media. Let’s spread the word and help them find forever homes!
