Abandoned Pups Found Sleeping In Broken Furniture Finally Learn What It Means To Be Loved

When residents of a quiet Los Angeles neighborhood stepped outside one morning, they couldn’t believe what they saw.

Nestled among a pile of discarded furniture were two tiny, matted dogs — trembling, hungry, and heartbreakingly alone.

“[T]hese babies were so matted, so filthy, and one of them … had patches of skin just gone,” wrote Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29. “No one knew where they came from. No one came looking.”

The pair had no collars, no home — and no hope.
They’d curled up beside a broken dresser, using it as the only shelter they had left in the world.

“Two tiny, broken souls laying beside the trash,” Hall wrote. “Like they’d been thrown away, too.”

The neighbors tried to coax the frightened pups closer, setting out bowls of food and water. But the dogs refused to move, too scared to trust anyone. Desperate to save them, the neighbors called Logan’s Legacy 29 for help.

When Hall arrived, she found the little dogs — later named Kimber and Pennies — frozen in fear.
“They were terrified. Frozen,” she recalled.

Gently, Hall spoke to them in soft tones, inching closer with patience and care. Eventually, she managed to guide them into a nearby yard.

One by one, she slipped leashes over their necks, then carried them to her car — finally safe for the first time in who knows how long.

At the vet, Hall’s suspicions were confirmed: both dogs were covered in painful mats and tested positive for scabies, an extremely contagious skin condition.

The diagnosis meant they’d have to be quarantined — apart from each other.

“Scabies is incredibly contagious to other dogs and even to humans,” Hall wrote on Facebook. “It affects anything with skin.”

“They didn’t ask for any of this,” Hall said. “They just want to feel safe, loved, and healthy again.”

For two dogs who had clung to each other through everything, the separation was devastating. But Hall and her team refused to let this be the end of their story.

Weeks of treatment followed — medicated baths, careful care, and endless patience — until finally, both Kimber and Pennies were declared healthy and ready to reunite.

Their reunion was pure joy. The moment they saw each other, their tails began wagging furiously, and they pressed their noses together as if to say, We made it.

Now living in a loving foster home, Kimber and Pennies are thriving — clean, healthy, and finally experiencing what love feels like.

“They are so sweet,” Hall told The Dodo. “They’re all better and ready for adoption.”

After being tossed out like garbage, these two survivors have found something far more precious: a second chance.

“They’re safe now,” Hall said. “Their healing can begin.”
