Jessie Goetze saw a Facebook post about a lost dog near her home in Port Douglas in Queensland, Australia. The next day, she saw the scared, skittish dog, who ran away when she first approached.
Goetze made multiple attempts to catch the dog, leaving food and setting up cameras. She even went so far as to alert the police, concerned that the owner may have been lost at sea.
After several weeks, Goetze returned to the beach with food. She threw pieces of chicken, and the hungry dog approached, eventually climbing onto her lap. Goetze was then able to put a leash on him.
Once safely at Goetze's home, the dog, now named Ocean, was found to be a gentle, loving mixed breed who was severely underweight. It was only later that the truth of his loyalty came to light:
