For the past two years, residents of Ratingen, Germany, have been scratching their heads over a curious mystery: where were all the gardening gloves going?
Little did they know, the culprit was prowling right under their noses — with four fluffy paws and a fondness for light thievery.
It all started when local resident Dorota Galica began finding random gloves left on her doormat. Not just once or twice — but regularly. And they weren’t hers.
Before long, Galica put two and two together and realized the sneaky glove bandit was none other than her own beloved cat, Mila.
By day, Mila is a cuddly, affectionate feline. But by night (or possibly just in her free time), she’s been swiping gloves from the neighbors’ yards and proudly depositing them at home — like prized trophies.
Over time, Mila’s collection has grown impressively.
While Galica initially found the situation amusing — even admitting she hasn’t needed to buy her own gloves since the glove deliveries began — she eventually felt it was time to come clean.
Taking to her local Facebook group, Galica posted a light-hearted confession:
“If anyone around here is missing gloves of any kind, you can contact us. The hard-working little thief is often seen on patrol — and she looks like the cat in this photo.”
The response from the community was nothing short of delightful.
“And I always thought cats caught mice,” one person commented. “This is much better.”
Another added, “Look how innocent cats are. You just can’t be mad at them.”
While Mila's sticky paws have now made her a bit of a local celebrity, there’s no word on whether her glove-snatching days are behind her.
But if she continues, it’s safe to say her neighbors will take it in stride — and maybe keep a closer eye on their laundry lines.
After all, who could stay mad at such a mischievous little face?
