Faithful Dog Waits Days Outside Hospital For Reunion With His Best Friend

Earlier this week, a homeless man named Adolfo was rushed to San Juan de Dios Hospital in Colombia after falling seriously ill with pneumonia.

Though Adolfo had little in the way of material possessions, it quickly became clear that he was rich in something far more valuable — love and loyalty.

His devoted dog, Moisés, refused to leave his side.

While Adolfo received treatment inside the hospital, Moisés waited patiently just outside the doors, braving cold nights and uncertainty, hoping for his best friend's return.

Animal lover Sammy Quiceno happened to notice the loyal pup and was deeply moved by the sight.

“He was waiting for his owner in the emergency room for more than two days without moving, even through the cold nights,” Quiceno wrote.

“The dog stayed close to a bag with the man's clothes and wouldn't let go. It's amazing what these animals do for us.”

Wanting to help, Quiceno took Moisés home, offering him warmth and comfort until Adolfo could be discharged.

At Quiceno’s house, Moisés remained close to Adolfo’s belongings, a sign of just how much he missed his friend. Fortunately, their separation didn’t last long.

When hospital staff heard about Moisés’ vigil, they made a rare exception to their “no pets” policy, opening the doors to allow the reunion everyone had been hoping for.

The moment Adolfo and Moisés saw each other again was pure joy.

“[Today,] Adolfo was able to see his furry friend, from whom he hadn’t been separated in five years,” Quiceno wrote. “It fills me with happiness. The love between them is truly unique.”

Though Adolfo still needs time to fully recover, hospital staff assured The Dodo that both he and Moisés are being cared for with great compassion.

And thanks to Quiceno’s kindness, Moisés will have a safe, loving place to stay until the day he and Adolfo can be together again for good.

“Let's hope for Adolfo's speedy recovery so they can stay together much longer!” Quiceno said.
