Dog Who Was ‘So Matted’ Looks Like a Puppy Again After Incredible Makeover

At Logan’s Legacy dog rescue, founder Suzette Hall and her team know that rescues can change in an instant — and that’s exactly what happened during a recent search mission.

One of Hall’s rescue partners, Mary, was out searching for a missing dog when she spotted a completely different pup in desperate need of help.

“She was covered in mats, fleas, and ticks, just running down the street,” Hall told The Dodo. “Mary immediately started following her.”

The small, shaggy dog bolted into an alley, with Mary close behind. When Mary finally caught up, she was surprised to find the pup wasn’t alone.

“She ran right up to a man, and he said, ‘We don’t want her. We just put food out. Do you want her?’” Hall recalled.

Mary didn’t hesitate for a second. The little dog — later named Bettina — was severely matted and filthy, clearly in need of urgent care.

“How could anyone not want such a sweet, adorable baby girl?” Hall said.

Mary rushed Bettina to Camino Pet Hospital, where the veterinary team immediately got to work. After a quick health check, they started on what would be a long and delicate grooming session.

Bettina’s tangled coat was a challenge, but her new friends didn’t stop until every last knot was gone.

“She got the most amazing makeover,” Hall said. “She looks and feels like a million dollars.”

Before, Bettina looked like a dog who had been surviving on the streets for years. But after her makeover, she looked brand new — like a happy, smiling puppy again.

“She’s just as sweet as she looks,” Hall added. “She’s a little doll.”

Bettina is now thriving in a loving foster home, but she’s still searching for her forever family — one that will give her all the care and love she deserves.

For now, she’s soaking up every moment of her second chance at life, finally free of the heavy burden she once carried.

As Hall puts it, Bettina has already received the best gift: “Now, she’s wanted.”
