20 Things All Dog Owners Must Never Forget

It's been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, ain't that the truth!

Here are some of our favorite dog quotes that are short and to the point, but that really conveyed how we felt about dogs, and why we do what we do here at PawBuzz:

“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”
“Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.”
“Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend never owned a dog.”
“Unconditional love is as close as your nearest shelter.”
“What a beautiful world it would be if people had hearts like dogs.”
“In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog.”

a dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself – Josh Billings

Sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. Omg 19 and 20 kicked my butt.I love my dog more than life it’s self sometimes.she is my world. As I’m writing this I’m hearing something on my bed trying to like make a bed I look in the bedroom, and there is my dog,,like tearing back the blankets and making her self a real comfortable spot.I starting laughing and she looked at me a said WOOF WOOF.I’m dying laughing at her.

  2. I always said putting my old bulldog “Brutus” down was the hardest thing I ever did alone. However, it is going to be even harder when it’s time to put my old boxer “Turk” down. I have had him since the day he turned 6 weeks old.

  3. I was holding my 14 year old springer when we had to have him put to sleep in March. I felt his heart beat for the last time. I have a 13 year old spaniel & a 5 year old sheppy. I will be with them until the very end too. I can’t stand people who dump their elderly dogs

  4. i was with my pit till her last breath, I laid down with her and look in her eyes and talk to her, after she was gone i broke down so bad. it still hurts today since she passed back in june of 2015. No more suffering for her. Still still this day my beagle, chichi miss her.

  5. One week before Christmas we had to make the difficult decision to put our Shelby down. I’ve never had to make a more difficult decision, but in her last moments, we made sure she knew she was loved…

  6. My Siberian stays outside until bed time 10-11 pm. Then she comes in and sleeps in her crate (her favorite place whe she does venture inside) But no matter how cold it gets, she likes being out

  7. I just lost one of my Yorkies on Wednesday. She was so sick from liver and kidney failure that she could barely walk, stopped eating or drinking, and so mentally confused she couldn’t find her way out of my bedroom. I took her to specialists, had tons of tests, etc., but nothing can beat liver and kidney failure. She was a rescue and supposedly just shy of 9 years old, so #20 did a number on me, too. I was with her all the way, holding her in my arms until her last breath. I still have an 11 year old Yorkie who was rescued with her, and that helps some. But I grieve mightily for my sweet Lulu. It never gets any easier. This one was the 3rd Yorkie I’ve lost since 1982 – one from cancer at 14, one from tracheal collapse at 13, and now this one. Everyone grieves differently, but I’ve never been able to even consider getting another dog for at least 6 – 8 months after losing one – too much grief to work through. Now Faith and I will work through this grief together. Love and prayers to all who have loved and lost.
