20 Things All Dog Owners Must Never Forget

It's been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, ain't that the truth!

Here are some of our favorite dog quotes that are short and to the point, but that really conveyed how we felt about dogs, and why we do what we do here at PawBuzz:

“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”
“Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.”
“Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend never owned a dog.”
“Unconditional love is as close as your nearest shelter.”
“What a beautiful world it would be if people had hearts like dogs.”
“In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog.”

a dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself – Josh Billings

Sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. My vet asked if I wanted to stay when I had to put my first boxer down. I really wanted to say no, but when I looked at her I couldn’t leave. She put both her paws in my hand and rested her head there as she went. I cried like a baby, but I wouldn’t have wanted her to go any other way.

  2. Good news for animal rights activists everywhere. As of 2016, animal cruelty is now considered a felony. Hopefully, this will also make breeders more reputable, as well as making them accountable for their actions ( ie: How they treat their dogs and who they sell them to!) Fact: 60 to 65% and as high as 85% of puppies sold on the internet come from puppy mills. Another fact: reputable breeders don’t sell dogs on the internet. A good breeder will verify where their puppies are going to ensure the dog finds a good home. Bad breeders, backyard breeders, and puppy mills are located everywhere, not just warehouses. You can find them in garages, basements, backyards, etc. Often times, breeders will stage photos with the dogs showing the loving and healthy environment. Just because there is a picture of a dog sitting on a couch, or playing with a child, doesn’t mean it was bread and raised in humane conditions. By the way, these facts come direct from the ASPCA. (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)

  3. everything made me laugh or smile and i thought, no way can anything take me to tears. but bloody hell… i’ve been there with my last Boxer and i held his head in my hands in my lap as the vet did what had to be done and when i felt the weight of his head change in my hands it took me to another world where i wanted to be able to undo it all and just keep going. so now my two year old boxer girl is spoilt beyond words and if i ever missed doing anything with Beau i promised myself i’d never miss doing it with Daffy.

  4. Cried my eyes out as we had to have our 15 1/2 yr old Mini American Eskimo, Bella, put down dur to too much pain. Daddy was with her, as I just had open heart surgery 2 wks before. Miss her everyday! Will never forget my baby girl.
