20 Things All Shih Tzu Owners Must Never Forget

James Mumsford, an American teacher and composer, perhaps described the Shih Tzu best:

Nobody knows how the ancient eunuchs managed to mix together: a dash of lion, several teaspoons of rabbit, a couple of ounces of domestic cat, one part court jester, a dash of ballerina, a pinch of old man, a bit of beggar, a tablespoon of monkey, one part baby seal, a dash of teddy bear, and, for the rest, dogs of Tibetan and Chinese origin.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Shih Tzu's are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Shih Tzu owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Shih Tzu owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. lovely gentle doggies perfect for me as I had massive phobia with dogs for a long time…my doggies helped me overcome it and have showed me such love and gentleness for this alone I will be forever in their debt xx

  2. So true Lindsey I’m not fit any more and they know they just lie staring at me cos they saw me carted off in ambulance, they are so scared of sirens now telly any where, and Toby the full shih Tzu just lies on my knee gazing up at me. Sometimes I get so emotional but I darent let them see it upsets them. I got Toby when he was 2 he had a fear aggression and bit me 3 times on the face my fault kissing him after he growled, but I never even scolded him for it, I thought it would make him worse, and I just love him, and he loves me, he was scared, he’d been passed 3 owners in about 2 month. I knew it wasn’t his fault. He’s a good boy. <3 him so

  3. It’s so true. I have 2 lhasa apsos…quozzy was 14 when he passed away (2/22/16) and I carried him for a whole hour when he passed away and his son ziggy is 8 and is feeling lonely. He has never experienced being home alone. I know he needs a companion soon.

  4. My little buddy, Mr. Panda Quinn goes with me almost everywhere everyday. Most of the time he shares my passion for our ’23 Ford Roadster, and happily wears goggles and even his leather jacket in the winter. He spends 3-4 evenings a week at his park hanging out with his pack, while I spend the time at the picnic table or bench with MY “pack”! He came into my life about two and a half years ago, abandoned, heart broken and scared… Now he brings happiness to himself and everybody he sees day!

  5. My 2 boys, Todd on the left Ray-Ray on the right. They are brothers from the same litter who will be 10 in September. They are probably the most spoiled little guy’s out there but I don’t care. I spoil them every chance I get.
