The AKC Standard describes the Rottweiler as “a calm, confident, and courageous dog with a self-assured aloofness that does not lend itself to immediate and indiscriminate friendships.”

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Rottweilers are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Rottweiler owners must never forget.

    Amen… I have the best rotty ever. She has 3 sisters to play with a Cheweenie, A Jack Russell Terrier and a Dachshund. I love her to pieces she is my heart and my soul. Praying for many more years with her.

    Oh Darlene I know that had to have been absolutely heartbreaking. And good that you got another one from a shelter.. we will do the same when the time comes. All our dogs are shelter dogs but Rotties are very very special we have had many breeds, they choose us not the other way around but this one is special. God bless you for adopting.

    I find myself overwhelmed by the love, protection, company, devotion and the brightness of mans best friend and the fact that God in his infinite wisdom saw fit to pair them with us simple humans! We are better for the pairing of us! I still fondly remember and mourn for the best being our wise God ever created! Thank you for every one! I hold a place in my heart open for you forever!

    Me and my wife get the same kind of reactions from people fear and ignorance about the breed until they actually interact with her and they change there way of thinking.Ours is named bella also and she is a 90lb lapdog.

    thank you we rescued her from a pound 7 years ago.She was in such horrible condition when we got her that both vets didn’t think she was going to make it.But we never gave up on her and now she is a happy healthy spoiled rotty lol.

    she has a complete run of the house and she sleeps with us every night in the bed we actually had to go buy a king size bed for all of us to fit because likes laying side ways in the bed 🙂

    You gave him the best gift a dog can have at the end though.You were there with him to very end and the last thing he seen was his owner’s face.My wife is a vet tech and you wouldn’t believe how many people leave there dog all alone at the very end.In my opinion thats selfish and wrong.I know it hurts but if you truly love them you will go threw the heartbreak at the end of there life not for you but for them.

    Thank you Brian Dann. I cannot even imagine letting him go alone, it was hard to leave after never less not be there at all. Your wife is an angel to be there, they deserve to see a caring face to the end

    I agree me and my wife have had rotties for 20 years now and they are the most intelligent breed we have ever had and so in tune with there owners its almost unreal.

    Oh and by the way you have a beautiful rotty he looks pure german.We’ve had both and for some reason the german breed doesn’t run into cancer as much as the american breed.

    This is my boy Rockie, he was with us for over 9 years. Was the most gentle kindest dog ever!! He loved to swim and the beach. Even had a couple of Pomeranian sisters. I was always amused by the stigma that goes with the breed – if only they knew. Still miss him so much everyday.

    I love my Rottweiler she is 2 year’s old. Good watch dog .She is good with children and loves to go on walks and is very well behaved on walks when dogs or cats walk s by she just keeps on walking.

    My Sammie is a 8 year old female rescue we’ve had her for 5 years now we never thought that one day we’d own such a dog but after loosing our last rescue dog we went to the rescue kennels and got shown many dogs of varying breeds but we didn’t find one suitable not until the kennel maid showed us the last one she had, she told us that the only one left was a Rottweiler we both looked at each other and thought omg a Rottweiler as we like many have misconceptions of this type of dog due to their negative press reports but we’ve learnt that there is no such thing as a bad dog just a bad owner. So we said ok let’s see her, well this rotti came rushing in and immediately came over to us and leaned on our legs and looked up as if to say… look at my eyes they are so full of love I will bring you so much joy…. Well that was it we took her home with us and the rest is history as they say, what a blessing she has been to the whole family she is great with not just our kids but all kids and Sammie loves other dogs even the small yappy ones she does ignores them and doesn’t retaliate when they have a go at her think she understands them bless her and she loves to act silly she makes us laugh but most of all these Rotti’s are SO FULL OF LOVE they want to please us and even strangers that get drawn to her say how loving she is but she expects that same love to come back to her in return which she does 🙂
