One of the best dogs for children of all ages, Labrador Retrievers are kindly, good-natured, and take most things in stride.
Most Labrador Retrievers are very friendly with everyone, though compared to Golden Retrievers, many Labs are just a bit more conservative with their affections.
It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Labrador Retrievers are no exception!
But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Lab owners must never forget.
If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Labrador owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…
Check out the 20 Things All Labrador Owners Must Never Forget on the next page:

My yellow lab, Loki, went to the Rainbow Bridge 5 days ago. After 12 years (he was an abused heartworm rescue) he just couldn’t stay any longer. I was holding him in my arms as he took his last breath. I miss him so, but we had SO MANY adventures together over the 9 years he was with the family. We’ll be rescuing another Lab before too long…

Sorry about your good buddy. Totally feel your pain. Has been 4 months for us and our yellow Cooper. Best pal you could ever have. We just brought a new 8 week old yellow home a week ago. Our hearts still hurts for sure but the new young life is bringing the sun back. Take care and RIP Loki.

Verbaasd?

This could be my Kirsty, who died in my arms in my dad’s van, rushing her to Emergency vet in downtown Toronto, she too went to the Rainbow Brige, at 9 years old with an enlarged heart, funny, my family had spent at least 30k on her many surgeries and health problems, I told her vet that she keep choking and is always out of breath after going for the smallest of walks, and begged for a chest x’ray, kept checking her out and said if it continues she will get “2 strong vet techs” to take her down the many stairs for an x’ray. Didn’t improve and we took her to other vet who found she had an enlarged heart so big it was pushing on her lungs and she had very little space in her lungs to breath. I didn’t want her to suffer and she said she may have a certain heart condition and you can take her to heart specialist in downtown Toronto, and sometimes they live for years with this problem. I discussed this with family and we decided to get 2nd opinion but didn’t hold out much hope. Taking her there in van she couldn’t “catch” her breath and suffocated to death in my arms, it was the most heartbreaking experience for my family. She will be forever missed, my dad, who is one of the strongest people I know cried for weeks on end, finally broke down and agreed to more dogs, now have 2 loving labs, Tyler and Shelby, brother and sister…couldn’t have found more absolutely adoring pups (5 yrs old now but still think they’re puppies) who ask for little but give you their utmost loyalty, affection, devotion and love each minute of the day…..sue
