The Siberian Husky is a beautiful dog that is free-spirited and (usually) good-natured with everyone. He is very playful, athletic, agile, and light on his feet. He loves the great outdoors and requires vigorous exercise, especially in cool weather.
He should be taken running, hiking, and/or biking every day, always on-leash, for he is independent and born to run. If something catches his interest, he'll be gone. Teaching him to pull carts and sleds gives him a purpose in life.
It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Huskies are no exception!
But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Husky owners must never forget.
If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Husky owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…
Check out the 20 Things All Husky Owners Must Never Forget on the next page:

My 2 beauties. Both rescues…one from an awful home, the silver from Hurricane Katrina. I followed all 20. They have since passed but their teachings for our Malamute still have a legacy.

Who else can walk their husky and not hang onto the leash. He also lays down at every street corner and waits for me to start crossing before he gets up. I’ve even left him 10 yards behind me and he always catches up and stays healed while we walk. Took about 2 weeks to get him to walk without holding his leash

hi Ally…thanks so much for your kind words…they are so helpful when it is so difficult. Throughout Max’s life we always hiked and ran together on a regular basis. He also ate healthy. I added veggies and chicken to his Iams food and I really think it was good for him. He always slept close by me and he received constant affection from all of us. So really that was it….lots of love, good exercise, and healthy living. The same ingredients that keep us healthy. I wish, and will pray for, many many many years of health and happiness for you and your guy. Peace!

Ours was trained as a service dog for me, but we always did the off leash thing. I just bring it with, and if he acts up, I just ask if he wants to hook up. I even let him off in the smaller stores we frequent.

I live in western Washington. Even if I have the heat on low in the winter, both of mine still like sleeping outside. I have a dog door so they can come and go. I’ll wake in the middle of the night some nights, and one or both my huskies will be sleeping outside in the brisk night.
