20 Things All Husky Owners Must Never Forget

The Siberian Husky is a beautiful dog that is free-spirited and (usually) good-natured with everyone. He is very playful, athletic, agile, and light on his feet. He loves the great outdoors and requires vigorous exercise, especially in cool weather.

He should be taken running, hiking, and/or biking every day, always on-leash, for he is independent and born to run. If something catches his interest, he'll be gone. Teaching him to pull carts and sleds gives him a purpose in life.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Huskies are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Husky owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Husky owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. Jody Payne Merritt thank you….I hope you have many many years with Archy….constant love and affection will give him a long life . What is sort of funny is, that as a child I grew up with a miniature schnauzer, he lived to be 14, his name was Archie.

  2. I have done all of these things with my husky m’s my 14.2 old husky has his great days and bad days but he lives to travel with me all the time. The last 8 yrs he has travel many miles and has lived in Texas(where born) Alaska and now Michigan

  3. Wow ,thats so sad Mike bouvier , but my goodness thats a great age . I lost my two age 10 and age 11.5 months old in oct 2015 and then jan 2016 . So so sorry for your loss ! Was the worst two days of my life losing mine , so know how your feeling ! You were clearly a great owners though to have him that long ! Bless you and your beautiful boy ! Take Care ! You’ll meet again one day for sure !

  4. This is d o gee..He is 11 years old..All 19 are very important factors and we do all of them…although we don’t put him on a leash…He has 20 acres of land to roam and that he does…We did loose him once for 5 days but with the help of friends and posters we got him back and he has NEVER left us again…The reunion was very heart warming..He cried as much as I did when he seen me and came running across the field we found him in 10 miles from home….He is the best thing to us and he is very spoiled….#20 will be the sadest day ever and you can bet I will be right by his side holding him tight ….

  5. All the dogs that I have had throughout my life, I have loved them all the best I could for how ever long I was blessed to have them with me , my 2 Huskies, Samson and Delilah, 15 and 13 , they are a unique breed , so silly , playful , major con artist….lol , way too smart for their own good , must be something about them that makes you want to spoil them , mine are the biggest brats ever , but I don’t care , they make me laugh and smile everyday, and when I look into those eyes, my heart melts , I know that everyday with them is a blessing, especially because of their age , and I know that our time together is running short, but no matter what, I will be there for them til the end, my babies, my heart, I realize that they adopted me , and that I live with them, but I wouldn’t have it any other way, so to all you Huskies lovers out there, just keep loving them.

  6. My pup is strong willed, he’s leashed to keep him safe. He also enjoys lots of walks, lots of adventures, and lots of open freedom in a fenced in dog park. Each dog is different, better to know as a majority most can’t be off leash. It’s in their wolf nature.
