Doberman pinschers are considered people-oriented dogs that are affectionate and sweet with people, if socialized and trained properly.
They are loyal to their owners and are good with children if raised with them; however, some Dobermans bond only to one person.
It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Doberman Pinschers are no exception!

I have and still do use service dogs to give me some quality of life. I take nothing away from any of them but Garth was the ‘one’ and shortly after his 13th Birthday the cancer would give him no rest. In your heart you try to bargain ‘Just One More Day!’ but when they cling to you to make the pain stop you are confronted by the moment you prayed would never come. The best I could do was see that he went on to Valhalla outside and not in some room and that the last things he heard as he slipped into the arms of Morpheus was me retracing some of our greatest adventures. Our home is surrounded by trees and six to 10 times a day he and I walked the tree line me watching him slip into the woods only to come out every few seconds to check on me. We passed on walking around the house in Winter because we were both two old men who hated the cold!. We are coming up on the 3rd Anniversary of him heading out to wait for me in Valhalla and I continue to try and be the man he knew me to be…but I have never walked around my property once since his passing. I continue to remind people that we must never allow the pain and melancholy of a loved one’s passing to occupy more space in our head our hearts and our souls..because what a sad commentary it would be on their presence in our life.. If their passing occupied more space than their love.. Sorry for the rant but a dear friend Mary O’Kane tagged me to this and it’s that time of year! .. LH&R and most of all Brotherhood!
