20 Things All Dachshund Owners Must Never Forget

Curious, lively, charming, and brave, Dachshunds are similar to terriers in their demands to be in on everything.

The comical clowns love to play games and have a great sense of humor. They are loyal little dogs, very attached to their family, and they firmly believe that sleeping under the bedcovers is in the Dachshund Bill of Rights.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Dachshunds are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Doxie owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Wiener dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. Mine lost mobility in his back legs 2 days ago (ivdd), truelly heartbreaking to go through because of back pain but we’re not giving up and keep taking care of him no matter what 🙂

  2. My Standard Dachshund, Benson, is 16 this year. Every day is a blessing. He can’t walk as far as he used to, but loves to get out and about. I bought a second hand stroller for him so we can go for long walks together.

  3. Our longhair blk/tan Murphy is 9…he’s healthy, active, and happy….and much loved. We had to put down our almost 16 year, old Benny in 2008….still grieve……wish our animal family members could live much longer!

  4. I had to have my dying Dad’s beloved Peco put to sleep 2 weeks before my Dad passed. This picture is 15 minutes before I took the little guy to the Vets. He was cremated and put in my Dad’s casket along with my Dad’s previous Doxie Bernie. So damned sad.
