The comical clowns love to play games and have a great sense of humor. They are loyal little dogs, very attached to their family, and they firmly believe that sleeping under the bedcovers is in the Dachshund Bill of Rights.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Dachshunds are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Doxie owners must never forget.

    I have had to put five Doxies to sleep over the past 20 years never gets any easier my last baby was about 13 her name is Rudy the way of my life her back it went out twice and we had emergency surgeries on her both times first time she lived in seven years second time a year and a half in the third time we did not put her through it anymore we kept her alive until we could not control her pain my elderly mother is spending the night that night and we took her to the emergency vet at 11:30 that night and I still see your beautiful eyes looking at me I brought her home and kept her in bed with me to listen get a map so I could Bury her in my backyard before my momma woke up I now have the two-year-old longer piebald Oxon and a dapple shorthair chocolate eight-month-old and another Long hair piebald eight map female so so precious you cannot replace the ones you have for but the new ones bring happiness back to your life God bless our doxies

    My dad couldn’t read me the last one….he was just giving me a big hug while he was crying…..I tried to make him feel fine…but that just made him cry some more and telling me that he loves me…(I knew that 🙂 ) Now I’m going to bed in a few hours. Can’t wait to lay down between mom and dad in my bed. 🙂

    I never saw one of my doxies on a cold table. In my arms they were always. My Vet was so good to me. He had tears in his eyes, his assistant had tears in her eyes and so did I. She made my life. She brought me happiness, joy and so very much love. I told her at the Vet’s office that when she left me to run as fast as she could to jesus and he would carry her over the Rainbow Bridge. She was to have no pain, fresh water everywhere and food. Maybe a slow squirrel or two. I told her not to worry about me because I would join her soon enough. Losing my Gretchen hurt more than my divorce…and they were both dogs!

    I am so sorry for your loss. I was just in your shoes. It hurts like hell to lose them but the joy they bring is heavenly. Their kisses are warm and soothe us and they do some of the funniest things ever.
