20 Things All Dachshund Owners Must Never Forget

Curious, lively, charming, and brave, Dachshunds are similar to terriers in their demands to be in on everything.

The comical clowns love to play games and have a great sense of humor. They are loyal little dogs, very attached to their family, and they firmly believe that sleeping under the bedcovers is in the Dachshund Bill of Rights.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Dachshunds are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Doxie owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Wiener dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. Wow. I love my miniature doxie, but this makes me realize how much I really do. I vow to spend more time with her now. She is crazy and stubborn and really makes me laugh when she chases her tail! She will be a year next month. I love her happily greeting me when I come home from work in the morning. My husband won’t allow her to sleep with us, so for now she sleeps in her kennel locked up at night. One day I hope to convince him that she needs to atleast be out of that and in our room. Here’s to hoping. Thank you for this article. Maybe I’ll show him and change his mind.

  2. “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good Life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right? Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

    – Spoken by a 6 year old boy who had just lost his family’s 10 year old, Belker, to cancer.

  3. I do these things regularly for my dogs. My current dachshund mix, Lily, is our baby and we dote over her all day every day. She is so good, tells us when she wants out, to eat, to get up in bed, to play, etc. She is so easy to care for and she makes our day that much brighter.

  4. Check this out MaCarmen Tenorio P, Francisco Tenorio P, Veronica Tenorio, David Palacios, Pao Palacios, Maria Augusta Palacios and Marcela Guzman……damn it….. who left a bowl with ninja onions down here ;-)….

  5. I’m so sorry for you loss. I totally understand. We had Buddy, a German shepherd beagle mix. We had to say goodbye to him at 8 years because of cancer. We miss him, too and also felt there wasn’t enough time. God bless.

  6. This was my long hair dachshund I brought back from Turkey (bought her for 15,000 Turkish lira = $42.50 at the time at the Turkish zoo.) when I served in the Air Force years ago. I totally loved this girl, too. She was a sweetheart and I was blessed to have her for 15 years. Her name was Bridgette.

  7. Why must i break down and cry? All off these dogs have a wonderfull life mine too. I love my dog more as you!!!! So never tel me i dont have a heart i think you dont have a ha
