20 Things All Dachshund Owners Must Never Forget

Curious, lively, charming, and brave, Dachshunds are similar to terriers in their demands to be in on everything.

The comical clowns love to play games and have a great sense of humor. They are loyal little dogs, very attached to their family, and they firmly believe that sleeping under the bedcovers is in the Dachshund Bill of Rights.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Dachshunds are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Doxie owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Wiener dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. All are true, especially the last. They are Angel’s sent to us from God. Love them as if they will be here forever, they certainly live in the heart for a lifetime. Miss all of my previous dogs…Herman, Herman Jr., schnitzel, cher, pumpkin, Minnie, scarlet, ruby. Also our two that are with us now, Oscar Meyer and spike flea.

  2. On tears. Beautiful. I lost my beautiful babies Missey snd Hoover within 11 months. Missey had cancer and died in my arms. Her brother Hoover died in my husband’s arms. He was nearly 18. They were the best we had in 43 years of raising Dachshunds. Miss them terribly.

  3. They last two got me. Reminds me of my black lab my favorite days with him were his last few years him and I really bonded while I ran for basketball in the summer. He died when I was 16 I remember having to put him down it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do.

  4. Definitely great rules for loving and living with your beloved moxie, I lived by all those rules and then some. Yes number 20 is a killer but I did that too. My little baby has now been gone for ten years and I still cry when I think about her for too long. You will never forget your little baby, and you never should. I love you Eibsee to the moon and back, but you already know that. xoxox

  5. “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good Life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right? Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”
