20 Things All Dachshund Owners Must Never Forget

Curious, lively, charming, and brave, Dachshunds are similar to terriers in their demands to be in on everything.

The comical clowns love to play games and have a great sense of humor. They are loyal little dogs, very attached to their family, and they firmly believe that sleeping under the bedcovers is in the Dachshund Bill of Rights.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Dachshunds are no exception!

But sometimes, we take our furry friends and wonderful companions for granted. There are important life lessons that are sometimes easy to forget in our hectic lives, that all Doxie owners must never forget.

If we want to pay back the favor and give them the best life possible, these 20 important reminders should serve you well as awesome Wiener dog owners. The last one (#20) brought me to tears…

  1. She was my son’s beagle, my son was in his 20’s but sassy was his first dog. She was given to my son by my uncle. Sassy had seizures at an early age. She had meds for it and the seizures would come and go. She became his best friend. Sassy was a goofus. So funny. We finally had to put her down. My son Sat in the vets office while I held her as she took her last breath. So hard.

  2. Damn it, why did I read it. We had to put our Doxie down quite a few years ago snd I still get misty eye when I think of him. We all laid on the floor to let him know what a good and loyal baby he was to us. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do.

  3. This is so sweet, and I am crying right now over #20. It brings back the feelings of helping my sweet friends over the Rainbow Bridge. I feel so strongly that they need us to be with them to the end, and I was there with my basset, Brandy, in 1997 and my doxie, Maggie, in 2013. Hardest thing I ever had to do, but I couldn’t be anywhere else when their time came. I’m going to stop writing, because my eyes are too blurry and it’s hard to see..
