The Cocker Spaniel is primarily a beloved companion dog breed, though he remains a capable bird dog at heart.

Beautiful to look at (and labor-intensive to groom), the Cocker’s amenable, cheerful disposition also makes him a treat to have in the family.

Never more pleased than when he’s pleasing you, he’s as happy to snuggle on the couch with his favorite adults as to romp in the yard with the kids.

It’s been often said that dogs are the only creatures on earth that love you more than they love themselves. Well, Cocker Spaniels are no exception!

    My cocker is my best buddy. He is twelve, but just as loving as when he was a baby. Now he is dealing with a heart problem, so extra care is given. Yeah he is family.

    so sorry for your loss, Betty … my 5 year old cocker spaniel “Brandi” passed away 3 months ago … she injured her spine and he back legs were paralyzed within 24 hours :'( I certainly understand your pain … my heart is broke. We’ve had cocker spaniels over the past 25 years … hopefully, my heart in the future <3

    I’m so sorry your baby is unwell too. I know that feeling of doing anything you can to help them what ever the cost. Sadly for us there was nothing we could do for shya which broke my heart. When we went in to the vets to spend some time time with her before she went over the rainbow bridge she saw us and wagged her tail even though she couldn’t stand up. I really hope your pup gets better soon x

    I have two cockers, and three terriers all rehomes, I got Lucy last August when she was twelve, she is amazing, so loving, funny and happy I have never seen a dog squirm on the ground like she does, pure happiness, this year April I was given a four year old male who had been used for hunting, and was no longer wanted, I kept him on a lead for two months, now he runs free he is a really happy dog, very loving very bouncy and completely nuts love him to bits, I am totally sold on this breed they are brilliant. This is them after a walk

    My dear Lara passed away since 30 th October 2014 She was the best , she was lovely she was all for me I miss her a lot We shared 11 years together . I take her in my heart and in my skin …………..I love you Lara

    Our hearts go out to you Betty, we had one that had to be put down, had Cancer, hardest thing ever to do, now we have 2 more, mama and her son, mama is getting slower and slower, just about lost her twice last year, spent everything or charged to keep her going, she is on meds. daily but we will do whatever we have to b/c she is everything to us and we also know the pain of losing them. She is only going to be 11 years old in Dec. of this year, her son is like an old shoe, so laid back and so easy going, he can’t get mad if he had to. Our babies and we LOVE THEM and SPOIL THEM.     Debbie Rhynolds Dickie I just read your comment on the$#%&!@*Spaniel website. I lost my little girl Codie due to the same ailment; she jumped after a lizard on a fence and came down and screamed after landing on her back spine. After 2 days she could not walk and no guarantee with surgery. I had to let her go after sleeping on the floor with her and watching her suffer. I am so sorry for you loss but thank you for letting me have someone to respond to that knows the pain I feel right now. Codie was only 10. and the love of my life, I lost my son a few years ago andf she came into my yard a lost puppy after. She was a blessing and I would give anything to have her back. Will the tears ever stop?

    My six Cocker Spaniels range in age from 13 years to 2 years,they have all been promised from day one they will never be alone..We have lost 4 other Cocker Spaniels over the years and I have been by there side from beginning to the end..
