    As a proud frenchie parent, unless you’re a celebrity and you have tons of cash for healthcare (I don’t but my dog comes first) realize that these awesome dogs have serious health issues. Sometimes you can luck out and your puppy will be problem free. Sometimes you can end up with serious surgeries and crazy vet bills. These dogs are expensive in terms of healthcare, and depending, health issues with food. Allergies can be severe. I knew what I was getting into and I got pet insurance. Always get insurance right from the get go otherwise they’ll deny you care. Have plenty of water in warm weather at all times, a warm jacket in the cold. Research the breed. I follow frenchie rescues and donate and it saddens me when people dump their dog because they can’t afford them. Please research and only get one if you know you can truly handle it. You’re committing yourself to a life that loves you most and abandoning them should not be an option. After all, you wouldn’t abandon a child or so I’d hope. You might luck out but I didn’t. I call mine the million dollar dog because we’ve gone thru plenty. I’d go hungry before he goes without anything he needs but that’s me. Don’t take owning a frenchie lightly. They’re the best dogs in my opinion but you’re going to get some tough times if your dog has issues. Just putting this out there. Research and if you say hell yeah I’m in, then get health insurance and enjoy being part of such a wonderful fur kid. Mine is nine now, I’ve had him since he was a puppy, and he is the greatest joy and gift life has ever given me. I’m only saying this because I see how popular they’re getting and rightfully so but if you’re getting any animal you should research what that new life that is now completely in your hands is like and ask yourself “can I do this?”. That’s important.
