Cocker Spaniels are dogs belonging to two breeds of the spaniel dog type: the American Cocker Spaniel and the English Cocker Spaniel, both of which are commonly called simply Cocker Spaniel in their countries of origin.

The American Cocker Spaniel is a breed of sporting dog. It is a spaniel type dog that is closely related to the English Cocker Spaniel; the two breeds diverged during the 20th century due to differing breed standards in America and the UK. Some of the words that describe the temperament of an American Cocker Spaniel are: Outgoing, Even Tempered, Merry, Joyful, Trusting, Sociable.

The English Cocker Spaniel is a breed of gun dog. The English Cocker Spaniel is an active, good-natured, sporting dog standing well up at the withers and compactly built. There are “field” or “working” cockers and “show” cockers. Some of the words that describe the temperament of an English Cocker Spaniel are: Playful, Faithful, Friendly, Quiet, Affectionate, Trainable.

    Beautiful and loyal are the perfect description for cocker spaniels – oh and maybe funny and full of energy too!! I’ve owned 2 and love them….. Would definitely have another when my life isn’t so hectic!!

    I love my cocker spaniel. Shes absolutly nuts. When im sad she comes to me, she gives me the best greeting when i get in from work and she is a joy to have as my
    pet. The only thing id change is her snoreing.
